Sarah's Inn currently has the following open position.

Abuser Intervention Program Counselor - PT

Sarah’s Inn, a community-based domestic violence agency located in Chicago and Oak Park, Illinois seeks a part-time, non-exempt, Abuser Intervention Counselor to join our team. The purpose of the position is to provide comprehensive and quality services to perpetrators of domestic violence.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Provide direct services to clients in the Abuser Intervention Program.
  2. Maintain accurate client information, paperwork and record keeping.
  3. Educate community members and professionals about domestic violence and Sarah’s Inn services.
  4. Participate in the ongoing development of cohesive, effective and efficient teams throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE

  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  2. Excellent organizational skills.
  3. Demonstrated computer experience.
  4. Knowledge of perpetrator issues specifically related to domestic violence.
  5. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle a variety of tasks, and meet established deadlines.
  6. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of people, including but not limited to board members, staff, volunteers, interns, government officials, community partners, organizational donors and media.
  7. Commitment to and experience in working with people from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic backgrounds.
  8. BA degree and/or equivalent experience required.
  9. Ability to work some evening and weekend hours.
  10. Valid drivers license, current insurance and reliable car.
  11. Minimum 1 year experience in counseling or social services preferred.
  12. This position will work up to 10 hours per week.
